ABOUT ANDY

Dave-(Andy)-Andrews

Born during an air raid in April 1944 (or to quote the Stones " I was born in a crossfire hurricane ") in Woking, Surrey.  The problem was that Woking was on the London/Portsmouth rail line and got bombed regularly.

After the war I Grew up in Streatham (South London), went to Woodmansterne Primary school, then to Aristotle Central.  I left school at 16 and after a few short term jobs went to Croydon Art college.

I joined the band (if you could call it that) in around 62/63 playing blues harmonica then bass guitar.  Myself & Kip (rhythm guitar) were joined by Steve (lead guitar) and John (drums). We shared the vocals.

The band self terminated at the end of 66 (see History) and we went our separate ways. Steve and I stayed as musicians for a while doing session work and writing songs for MAM records.

Being married and with 2 young sons I did the responsible thing and settled into normal life, (to get a mortgage) and went back to college (Croydon Tech) to acquire some (other than arty) qualifications to make me more employable.  I became a design engineer. Progressed rapidly and ended up employed by a USA fuel pump consortium in Michigan.

I was senior project engineer, and spent far too much time working worldwide and by the late 70's I had had enough of the corporate good life, I missed my wife and kids and so I quit to form my own design consultancy company back in the UK. This progressed over the years into DML (a manufacturing Co). We designed and produced vending machines and exported them worldwide.  Due to the recession I was forced to shut down in 2009.

In 2007 The Carnaby reunited and I am now back writing songs with Steve and involved in full time recording in our Studio in Surrey. So I've now gone full circle and I'm back in the band as I was in the 60's. My musical tastes have never really changed. I love earthy blues and heavy rock as I have always done.

Apart from grandchildren, nothing has really changed.
